Boards Of Canada: Tomorrow's Hype-Fest

'Tomorrow's Harvest' By Boards Of Canada,
Design: Mike Sandison & Marcus Eoin

Finally, following a dispiriting, over-the-top, advance marketing onslaught, I can start falling in love with the music on the new Boards of Canada album, 'Tomorrow's Harvest'.  After a handful of plays, the signs are encouraging, but really, how can anything live up to such a weight of over-hyped expectation?  This tendency towards overkill around the 'eagerly anticipated' release of 'overdue' recordings by respected artists is starting to ring very hollow.  It seems to just invite a sense of anti-climax when they finally appear.

One thing I do know is that I'm besotted with that photo on the front of 'Tomorrow's Harvest' so let's all pause and take time to stare into the sun as its rays fall on a fading civilisation...
