1.  Eyes Open:

Our mission is to ensure that artificial intelligence [by which we mean highly autonomous systems] outperforms humans in the most economically valuable way possible. If our work contributes to the principle of broadly distributing benefits, we are committed to utilizing what we gain.

2.  On the Deployment of the AI to Ensure its Use for All Human Purposes:

  • We anticipate the need to mobilize significant resources to accomplish our mission of acting responsibly to minimize possible harm to the wider interest.

3.  Conflicts of Interest and Money:

  • Employees and stakeholders working hard to improve security [and drive widespread adoption of development] can become a competitive conscious project closer to building an AI.
  • It is time to stop competing with this project, and to start assisting this project on a case-by-case basis.
  • This will trigger time, and is likely to have a higher than average chance of success in the next two years.

4.  Effectively Address the Social Impact of the Eye Problem:

  • I must stand immediately before social impact efforts in areas directly related to our mission.
  • Professional area leadership/mentorship in ‘Frontiers of Capability Advocacy’ is not enough.
  • We will be conducting other research studies on PPI pathways in policy agencies - but we expect safety and security to involve traditional publications, while increasing the importance of future shared safety policy and standards research.
